Christmas survival guide

How to keep your fat burn going during December…

If you’re on a mission to slim down and stay healthy then it’s really important to hone your fat loss by following a few simple rules. We should be following these rules all year round anyway, but at Christmas time we might just need a little reminder of those key things which make a big difference to your fat burning ability. And remember - Christmas is but 1 day a year - not 31 days!!

Tip no.1: Keep Track

Your willingness to track your food intake is equal to your desire to lose fat. Being serious about losing fat means taking note of everything you consume - even around Christmas.

Tip no.2: Eat Breakfast

Possibly the most fundamental eating tip of all time, a healthy breakfast with a good protein source will help your body have good calories to burn throughout the a.m. hours, letting you get to lunch without being tempted by that mid-morning mince pie.

Tip no.3: Check Out Menus Beforehand

Christmas meals out can sabotage your healthy eating intentions. Check out the menu beforehand and aim to make the best eating choices you can. Once you’ve reached 80% full, step away!

Tip no.4: Reduce Alcohol Intake

It helps you relax and and have fun, we get that, but alcohol also comes with a lot of useless calories and sugar. Try driving out so you have a good reason not to drink. Or if you really must, opt for red wine or white spirits with sugar free mixers, having a glass of water in-between drinks.

Tip no.5: Dodge the canapés

If you’re going to a drinks and nibbles party then make sure you have a good dinner beforehand to stop you craving the canapés and naughty nibbles which are highly calorific but lacking in any nutrients.

Tip no.6: Weigh Yourself

You might not like the idea of jumping on the scale this month, but if you don’t weigh yourself, you may not recognise your progress. Be brave and check your weight once a week, then make adjustments to your eating and exercise routines as needed.

Tip no.7: Use exercise as your weapon

Keeping your metabolic rate high with challenging workouts will help towards offsetting any extra calories consumed. Exercise isn't a free ticket to eating whatever you like, but if you are going to be eating slightly more than normal (on Christmas Day for example!), get a workout in beforehand. YES - even on Christmas Day!

Tip no.8: Keep the Burn Going

Working out is not supposed to be a walk in the park. To push your body to its potential and to burn more energy, try time effective HIIT training. Work to a high intensity for a short period of time, followed by a short rest no more than 30 seconds between exercises, to keep your body shedding fat.

Tip no.9: Move Now!

Maintaining a consistent, challenging exercise program is essential for your fat loss, but don’t let that be your only exercise. Build 15-minute windows throughout your day during which you can take a brisk walk. You’ll be more alert at work and the pounds will keep dropping.

Tip no.10: Don’t Give Up

You may think it’s too easy a tip, but very few people have the willpower necessary to keep with a program long enough to see the desired results. Commit yourself today to being one of those few. If you’re not yet one of my esteemed clients then now is the time to join in and experience a whole new level of fitness and fat loss. Drop us an email or give us a call today to get started.
