Excuses are useless, results are priceless

We all know that keeping fit and eating well isn’t always a walk in the park and it takes hard work to maintain all of the time. You might be setting out to do 4 or 5 exercise sessions per week and eat well in 90% of your meals. After all, this is what it takes to make significant changes to your body and progress your fitness. But when times get busy at work, family come to stay or you’re just feeling knackered, they prevent us from doing what we set out to do.

But are these genuine reasons or just excuses for not sticking to your plan?

The people who get the best results on our training plans are those who limit their excuses by adjusting their mindset to one which is results orientated.

Here are the top 3 excuses we hear at Empowered Fitness and our advice for becoming better than your best excuse:

Excuse #1:

I was too busy to do my workouts this week!

Results mindset: If you plan your workouts in to your diary in advance you can schedule them around your busy life. Even if 20 minutes is all you can make, that’s great. That’s why we make our Empowered Fitness home workouts quick and effective. Most of us spend 20 minutes watching mindless TV – cut that out and you’ve found your 20 minutes for exercise.

Excuse #2:

I didn’t have time to make my breakfast/lunch!

Results mindset: By preparing your food the day before this makes healthy breakfasts and lunch more achievable. Or get out of bed just 10 minutes earlier to prepare your food. We also advise bulk prepping some of your food on a quiet Sunday afternoon – the time spent upfront saves you a whole lot of time during the week.

Excuse #3:

My mum/husband/friend made it for me so I had to eat it!

Results mindset: You need to get ‘buy in’ and support from your loved ones to help you stay on track. Talk with them and explain the types of food you’d prefer to eat. The more support systems you can get around you, the easier it is to stay on track.
