Stop letting excuses get in the way of your training

How many times have you given in to the “I’ll do it later” promise? Will it actually be easier to get it done later – or are you just letting your excuses get the best of you?

If you’re reading this blog about fitness then getting fit must mean something to you. You're investing time in it right now. Sometimes the thought of exercise is worse than actually doing it. And it's just the procrastinating that's talking you out of it.

We all make excuses for not doing our workouts and often it's just because we're preoccupied with something else and so decide to put off working out. Other times we let our excuses start to make our decisions for us without even realizing it. We let ourselves believe it really will happen later.

It doesn’t feel good to make excuses and feel like you're constantly failing. It feels so much better when you get the job done and feel and see the rewards. So how are we going to solve this problem?

Step 1:

The first step to beating your excuses is to be realise when you are doing it - making those silly excuses which you justify in your head to let yourself off, but really you know there's another way.

Step 2:

Making excuses is really just an unhealthy habit. The best way to break an unhealthy habit is to replace it with a healthier one. That chatter in your head trying to convince you to stay in bed gets quieter and quieter, until it pretty much disappears.

Step 3:

Prioritise what is most important to reach your goals. We are all busy these days and there will always be something you could do or would rather be doing, than exercise. But the more you are used to pushing through it and getting that workout in anyway, the more likely you are to be able to get through even the rough days. Prioritising means letting something else go, and that's ok. You need to put your health nearer the top of the pile for once, do something FOR YOU and make a regular commitment to making it happen.
