Personal trainer tips: Be the best version of YOU!
With social media being so popular these days, it could be easy to believe that the majority of people in the world have chiselled abs and super toned bodies all year round, when in fact this really isn’t the case!
It can be quite demoralising if you’re constantly seeing this content when you’re at the start of your journey, Just remember to try and steadily become a fitter, stronger, version of you, rather than comparing yourself to these public figures on social media.
Let’s face it, these people probably aren’t in amazing shape all of the time. They will have pictures from a couple of photo shoots that they release and re-circulate over time. You just see the best bits, and it can be frustrating to think that it’s easy for everyone else but not for you!
We all have different commitments, struggles and challenges, so your path to health and fitness needs to be realistic and achievable. So, my tip for you is to take small steps every day to become the best version of you. At Empowered Fitness, we refer our clients to the ‘Success Pyramid’ below.
Most people will know that to make progress, you will need to improve your diet and will need to exercise more, so make these your first steps. Be mindful of your diet starting from tomorrow: a high protein / high fibre and low carb / low fat approach will be a good start. If you don’t exercise currently, try and do some form of bodyweight/resistance workout 1-2 times per week. Then work up from there.
The next part is everyday movement; you should aim for 10,000 steps per day of leisure walking (or 30-60 minutes). Get up and move about as much as possible every day.
Finally, having an empowered mind means taking control of your mind and body: making empowered lifestyle choices, creating your own path, and using mindfulness and stress reduction techniques. This is actually the most important part of the pyramid; once you have an empowered mind, the rest will follow!
If you make these small changes each day you will be much closer to your goals and much happier as a result!
