Personal trainer tips: How to know if your diet sucks...

First, let me clarify something.
When I say the word “diet”, I am simply referring to how you eat, not a specific diet plan. Though there are plenty of diets out there!
 And they all tend to go through phases of popularity: low fat, Atkins, Paleo, and now Keto.
 While I do not advocate any specific diet, I do advocate eating in a way that is sustainable for you. 

 

Ask yourself: "Can I do what I’m doing right now for the rest of my life?" If the answer is no, it’s a bad sign for things ahead.


 

Here are some other ways to know if what you’re doing is going to yield poor results long-term: 

 

•    You can’t wait for cheat days. The truth is that when you find a way you can eat forever, cheat days no longer exist. 


 

•    You’re afraid of going out with friends because you might fall off the wagon. A sustainable diet has no wagon to fall off of. 


 

•    You look at your food most meals and wish you were eating something else. This is no way to live! 


 

•    You identify certain foods or food groups as totally off limits. This just isn’t sustainable.
 So, is the way you’re eating right now both something you could see doing forever AND getting you the results for your body you desire?
 If the answer isn’t a resounding “YES!” it’s time for a change.
