Personal trainer tips: How to deal with injuries

When you’re serious about achieving any type of fitness goal, fears may grow around getting injured. We have the most highly qualified Personal Trainers here at Empowered Fitness to help prevent this, or even rehab an injury, but sometimes things happen outside of the gym that land you in pain.

There are certain cases of injury so significant that movement is inadvisable, so you should always consult a doctor first, but if it’s a particular body part that is injured, I’d like to inspire you to look at the injury as an opportunity.

Let me give you an example:

I currently have a shoulder injury (damage to the Rotator Cuff) that prevents me from doing most upper body exercises, especially pushing movements. Some upper body pulling exercises are OK, but all lower body exercises are fine and cause me no pain.

So, I’ve taken the opportunity to progress my squats and deadlifts using a Barbell, and I’ve made some noticeable strength gains in just a matter of weeks, which is great!

This was a case of searching for the thing I could do versus focusing on what I couldn’t do, and it made all the difference. I’d encourage you to do the same.

If you have a knee injury, think about what can you do with your upper body? If you have a shoulder issue, how could you train your heart or lower body?

In most cases, there’s something that can be done, so please don’t give up entirely!

Being in pain can be a life-altering experience, so we want you to know that no matter where you are, we can help you through it.

Is this something you can relate to? If not, do you have a friend who might need some help and guidance to get through an injury? I’d love for you to reply and let us know or forward this blog to someone who it could help.

We want everyone living their best, fittest, and happiest life!

Chris
